The Citadel La Citadelle

Standing proud on the water's edge, the Citadel looks as though it still defends the old town. It was built in 1557 on the site of a smaller fort on the orders of Emmanuel Philibert, Duke of Savoy, by his architect, Provana de Leyni.

Today, it houses the Town hall, a congress centre, some museums, and an open air theatre.

THE MUSEUMS: Open everyday except Tuesday & Sunday morning, from 10 until 12am & 2 until 5pm (in winter) or 3pm till 8pm (in summer).

 Se dressant fièrement au bord de mer, la CITADELLE semble continuer à défendre la vieille cité : elle fut édifiée en 1557 sur un ancien fortin sur ordre d'Emmanuel Philibert Duc de Savoie, par l'architecte Provena de Leyni.


Elle abrite aujourd'hui l'Hòtel de Ville, un Centre de congrès, des musées d'art et d'histoire, un théâtre de verdure.

LES MUSEES: Ouvert tous les jours sauf mardis et Dimanche matins, de 10h à 12h et de 14h à 17h (en hiver) ou 15h à 18h (en été).

An Auditorium measuring 450m2 with seating for 185 people, two conferance halls, each accommodating 50 people, three committee rooms seating from 30 to 60 participants, over 4000m2 of exhibition space, and an open air theatre for an audience of 1500.
